Home Learning

In Reception there are weekly Phonics and Maths tasks to complete in the red home learning books.

As a school our weekly expectation is for children to read at least 3 times per week and record this in the yellow reading diary. The reading can be your child’s phonics reading book, a book borrowed from school, a favourite bedtime story or a comic or magazine.

Other ways that you could support your child at home…

  • Sing nursery rhymes
  • Share books
  • Talk about numbers, colours, letters, words you see when you’re out and about
  • Cut out and stick e.g. pictures from magazines
  • Cook together
  • Plant seeds or bulbs together
  • Talk to your child at every opportunity and extend their vocabulary

It is important that we work together. Please feel welcome to exchange information and discuss things that will benefit your child and things you have been doing outside of school. The children love to have a special mention on Tapestry if they have achieved something out of school, these things will support us in completing your child’s end of year profile.
