At St Leonard’s we encourage children to continue their learning journey at home. Age-appropriate home learning tasks are set each week to consolidate and deepen children’s understanding of concepts taught in school.

 

Expectations for each phase

Early Years Foundation Stage – Nursery:

  • Please share stories with your children regularly and bring your child’s bookbag to school each day.
  • Children will also have the opportunity to take home Nursery Rhyme, Dough and Story bags to share with their parents/carers.

 

Early Years Foundation Stage – Reception:

  • Please read at least three times a week and record this in the yellow reading diary. This should take approximately 10 minutes.
  • Weekly Phonics and Maths tasks to complete in the red home learning books. This should take approximately 10-15 minutes.
  • Parents are also encouraged to share any significant achievements & celebrations of home learning on Tapestry.

 

Key Stage One (Year One and Year Two):

  • Please read at least three times a week and record this in the yellow reading diary. This should take approximately 10-15 minutes.
  • Weekly English and Maths tasks to complete in the red home learning books. This should take approximately 10-15 minutes. Examples will be given where possible to show parents/carers correct methods of working out in line with school teaching as well as any details of key terminology/definitions to support learning tasks at home.
  • Times tables practise on TT Rockstars
  • Half termly project linked to class topic, key stage or whole school project

 

Lower Key Stage Two (Year Three and Year Four):

  • Please read at least three times a week and record this in the yellow reading diary. This should take approximately 30-45 minutes.
  • Weekly English and Maths tasks to complete in the red home learning books. This should take approximately 30 mins.
  • Times tables practise on TT Rockstars. We do not specify how many times a week, but over the course of the week this should take approximately 15 minutes.
  • Termly projects linked to learning in school: this should take approximately 60 minutes.

 

Upper Key Stage Two (Year Five and Year Six):

  • Please read at least three times a week and record this in the school reading diary. This should take approximately 45 minutes.
  • Weekly English and Maths tasks; this should take approximately 30 minutes.
  • Times tables practise on TT Rockstars. We do not specify how many times a week, but over the course of the week this should take approximately 15 minutes.
  • Termly projects linked to learning in school; this should take approximately 60 minutes.

 

Remote Learning

If your child cannot attend school for a period of time for circumstances that are out of your control your child will be expected to access their learning remotely. Please see the below policy for more information:
