For our children to gain the greatest benefit from their education it is vital that they attend regularly and your child should be at school, on time, every day the school is open unless the reason for the absence is unavoidable.
Regular attendance ensures that children’s learning is uninterrupted, gaps in learning are avoided, children don’t miss out on opportunities provided for them at school and they maximise their progress and achieve what they are capable of.
Arriving at school on time avoids a child feeling any embarrassment walking into the classroom when everyone else has started and it ensures the child does not miss out on essential instruction or information given out at the beginning of the lesson. Arriving 10 minutes late each day results in missing over a week of education and learning.
Holidays during term time cannot be authorised under any circumstances, parents who take their children out of school for Holidays will be reported to the Inclusion and Attendance Team and could received a fine or prosecution. Leave of absence can only be authorised by the Head Teacher if the parent fills out an Exceptional Leave Form. The school will take into account previous attendance and any previous history of exceptional leave when deciding if an absence can be authorised.
If your child is ill and cannot attend school you must phone us as soon as possible before 8.30am, you can leave a message on the absence line if the office is closed.
