We have always placed great emphasis on regular and punctual attendance. Children whose attendance is poor do not make good progress, and we reward good attendance with special assemblies and awards.
We are allowed to authorise absences for illness, medical and dental appointments, religious observance and exceptional circumstances, for example a death in the family.
From September 2013 we are no longer able to authorise any holiday leave during term time. This has been made law, and parents who take leave may be prosecuted and fined by the Inclusion and Attendance Service. However, if there are exceptional circumstances please fill in a ‘Special Leave’ form with an accompanying letter explaining the special circumstances for absence. This needs to be done at least 3 weeks prior to the date leave is needed and these will be considered.

What to do if your child is absent?
Please telephone the school before 8.30am on the first day of absence. If we do not have an explanation it is now the school’s policy for a member of staff to ring to ascertain whether the child was sent to school or not.
Unexplained absences will automatically generate a letter on our computer base.
The Engagement and Inclusion Service Officer has access to our data , persistent and frequent absences are monitored.
Home/School Agreement
The school has a partnership home/school agreement which was put together by a group of parents, children and staff. All parents will be asked to read and sign this document before admission into school.
